Faculty Friday - Lauri Torrie
Our faculty spotlight this week is on JKE teacher Lauri Torrie! Lauri has been an educator for 19 years, the last five at Community School. A Missouri native through and through, she has her masters in teaching from Webster University, and of course the Cardinals are her favorite team! Lauri is married and has two daughters, ages 2 and 5. Let’s learn a little more:
Favorite subject to teach? I love teaching math, especially getting kids to explain how they got their answer, and getting them to understand there is often more than one way to get the right answer.
Favorite spot on campus? The gym.
Favorite CS memory? When faculty danced to the Trolls song at the Halloween assembly.
Community School “claim to fame”? People come to me if they need something drawn or a sign made. I'm also known for all of my baskets!
Hobbies? Painting, biking, going to Grant's Farm, watching bad reality tv
Favorite food? Chips, cheese dip, and guacamole
Favorite children’s book? Too many to choose from! Currently, Goodnight Moon.
Why Community? It’s inviting and warm, the campus is beautiful, and the support from administration is amazing.
