Community School is a child-centered private preschool and elementary school focused on the growth and development of the whole person. A child is selected for admission to the school on the basis of character and academic promise, to the extent these can be predicted through interviews, visits, and screenings.

The steps for applying online to Community School are as follows:

  1. Submit an inquiry so that we can assign a username and password for you. Login information will be emailed to you within one business day. Once you receive your Community School admission portal username and password, you will have access to your child's admission checklist which will allow you to complete our online application and monitor your child's progress through the admissions process.
  2. Schedule an appointment to tour the campus, either via the admission portal or by contacting Dana Scott Saulsberry, Director of Admission, at (314) 899-2414, ext. 315. The tour is for adults only. Current families are not required to tour the school.
  3. Submit an application for admission accompanied by a $90.00 non-refundable application fee no later than January 31, 2025. Apply online via the admission portal. You must complete the inquiry form in order to submit an online application.
  4. If applicable, apply for financial aid using the Clarity Application by February 7, 2025. Please note that half-day Nursery applicants are not eligible for financial aid.
  5. Schedule a parent interview with Head of School Bob Cooke via the admission portal, or contact the Admission Office at (314) 899-2414, ext. 315 to make an appointment. Current families are not required to meet with the Head of School.
  6. Complete additional online forms after January 1, 2025: the Release of Records, Teacher Recommendation Request, and Request for Records/Transcript forms. All required materials are due by February 7, 2025.
  7. All applicants are required to complete an assessment. For applicants entering Nursery, Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten, and First Grade, parents will receive notification about the date and time for the assessment in January 2025. Starting in Second Grade, student visitors will be asked to spend a full school day shadowing a Community School student from their grade level. During the visit, the applicant will be asked to complete math and reading assessments and provide a writing sample. Contact the Admission Office at (314) 899-2414, ext. 315 to make an appointment.
  8. Decision letters, enrollment contracts, and financial aid awards will be emailed and available in your admission portal on Friday, March 14, 2025 after 4 p.m.
  9. A non-refundable tuition deposit of 10% of tuition for each student is due Friday, April 4, 2025.
