From the early days of Community, Thursday morning assemblies have held a prominent place in the educational experience. Students, teachers and parents gather in the gymnasium nearly every week of the school year to perform original dramatic works, sing seasonal songs, or view special presentations by classmates or outside groups. Our 6th grade students lead every assembly.
Each grade has the opportunity during the year to produce a musical presentation and then perform it for the School and their parents during an assembly. From simple rhymes by the
Nursery children to the elaborate plays based on curricular material by the 6th grade students, these performances foster the skills of public speaking, teamwork, and practice. Parents are welcome to come to all assemblies.
In addition to regular assemblies, individuals and classes will occasionally share a talent during lunch. Such presentations have included playing a musical instrument, singing a solo or duet, and showing a traditional dance from a country of study. All the students enjoy supporting each other in the development of these special abilities.
