Nursery

Pouring sand. Manipulating puppets. Building lightbox Lego creations. Examining a hermit crab with a magnifying glass. Constructing a pretend forklift from oversize blocks. Helping cook their own food for snacktime. Going on a nature walk. These are just a sample of the kinds of activities Nursery students engage on a daily basis.

In addition to regular classroom activities, the Nursery class has French, music, and P.E. twice a week, and goes to the library for story time at least twice a week.

In Nursery, parents are encouraged to stop by and visit with their children, whether it’s having lunch, reading a book at story time, or helping out with a special project. Two favorite annual parent/child activities are the Fathers’ Breakfast and the Mothers’ Tea.

Our full-day nursery program encourages children to express ideas, feelings, and point of view in a supportive, joyful atmosphere. Teachers act as nurturers, listeners, and facilitators as each child explores the environment, interacts with peers and materials, and strives to make sense of a complex world.
