Branching Out Capital Campaign

It's Finished!

This fall we celebrate the final success of the Community School capital campaign – Branching Out: Building for Our Children, the Community, and the Future. When the School embarked on this ambitious project three years ago, there was simply a vision and a drive to make an already remarkable school even better. With the full support of the Board of Trustees, we invited the entire Community School family to join in making this dream for the future become a reality. Through the generous participation of parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty and administrative staff, former families and friends, the School has achieved its goal and the transformation has begun.

The focus of the Branching Out campaign has been the creation of the Leadership Wing for our 5th and 6th Grade students, an expansion and renovation of the School’s kitchen, a safety-focused reconstruction of the School’s driveway and entry, and a $2 million increase to Community’s endowment. The goal was $8 million. We are pleased to report that we have both raised the money needed for the entire project and are halfway through the construction process. The kitchen and driveway were completed before the opening of School in September. The Leadership Wing will hold its inaugural classes in January 2010, and the entry will be operational prior to the beginning of School next fall.

The completion of this campaign expands the possibilities of what we can offer our children and maintains the tradition of creating greater educational opportunities for the students of tomorrow. In each stage of its evolution, Community School has benefited from families building for the advantage of children yet to come. This time is no different. The generous contributions from so many members of the Community family will sow the seeds of achievement for students now and in the future. Many thanks to all those who made the Branching Out campaign such a great success!

"The
Branching Out campaign is a reflection of the strong commitment that our families, alumni and faculty have toward Community School. Even in a very economically challenging time, we were able to meet our goal of raising $8 million to improve our facilities and enhance our endowment. I am so pleased to have been part of this campaign and my deepest thanks goes to those who worked so hard to help us reach our goal and to those who gave so generously."
