Drama

From in-class skits to elaborate costumed productions, Drama is a favorite activity of Community School students. Thursday morning assemblies, packed with parents, frequently showcase the latest theatrical presentations. In addition to specific theater-based knowledge (presentation styles, types of staging, stage directions, etc.), students learn a myriad of skills helpful in their other classes, such as memorization, articulation, spatial awareness, and self-discipline.

Drama emphasizes the creative process and individual growth. The drama teacher works in conjunction with the classroom and special teachers to help students express themselves and stretch their boundaries. Students leave Community with the poise and personal confidence to make presentations, whether before a small group of classmates or an entire school.
