Exciting opportunities await students in Community School's After School Programs! Parents and students can choose from Extended Day, Homework Club and/or “mini” classes.
Extended Day
This program is offered for children from Nursery through Grade Six. The program strives to provide a supportive, homelike environment for children. Outdoor games, creative play, crafts, cooking and quiet time for reading and/or homework are scheduled for the children. A daily snack is provided.
The hours are from the end of school until 6:00 p.m. Extended Day meets during school holidays, faculty professional days and conference days.
Homework Club
Homework Club is designed to assist students in the management and completion of homework and long-term assignments. It is not meant to be a tutoring class, but rather an opportunity for students to practice and master time management and organizational skills. Students will meet each day with experienced homework advisors to discuss assignments, organize materials, and establish long and short-term goals. A nutritious snack and exercise will be offered each day. Reports will be shared with students and parents on a regular basis. Homework Club meets Monday through Thursday; two days minimum enrollment is required.
“Mini” Classes
“Mini” classes covering a wide range of topics are offered to students in JK through Sixth Grade. Topics will offer children an opportunity to explore exciting and enticing academic and nonacademic areas. Here are the classes offered for Winter 2008:
